University of Alkafeel , under the supervision of the lifelong learning centre , organized a lecture : "Identifying the Intellectual Foundations of Religious Texts for the Use of Terrorist Groups", delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussam Ali Al-Obaidi, on Monday 6/10/2024, at the College of Medicine.

    Dr. Al-Obaidi began the lecture by reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs, as part of the activities of this day that coincides with the first anniversary of the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.

    During the lecture, Dr. Al-Obaidi discussed the importance of religious texts used by terrorist groups, pointing out the misunderstanding that prevails about these texts, and stressed the need to correct this understanding and direct it towards right meanings that avoid extremism. He also touched on the most important reasons that lead to the spread of extremist thought, reviewing the social and cultural factors that contribute to such a matter  .

    Moreover , Dr. Al-Obaidi stressed the need to enhance the correct understanding of the Palestinian issue between the young , explaining the importance of communication between generations to increase awareness of its concepts.

    At the end of the lecture, Dr.Al-Obaidi recommended the need for academic intellectual spaces that address these issues objectively, to support constructive discussion about religious texts and misconceptions promoted by extremist groups.
