University of Alkafeel, in collaboration with Intellectual and scientific Society of Al-Ameedand supervised by the Lifelong Learning Center, hosted an educational seminar on "Risks of Cyber Extortion" on Monday, February 12, 2024, to highlight the dangers of cyber extortion in the contemporary digital era. The seminar featured an informative presentation by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hossam Ali Al-Abidi, Director of the Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation at the university, discussing the concept of cyber extortion, its significance, and prevention measures. Dr.Al-Abidi emphasized the need for digital literacy to avoid such risks and vital practices such as maintaining active SIM cards and not leaving accounts associated with them unmonitored after disposal or resale. This seminar is a part of a series of educational events and seminars organized by the University of Alkafeel to raise awareness among the university community about electronic threats and how to counter them, reflecting the university commitment to developing digital skills and enhancing its role as a center for education and awareness in society.
