The College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific lecture for freshmen students : “Medical Ethics”, presented by the international advisor, Prof. Dr. Huthaifa Adam Ali from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, on Monday, 12/9/2024. The lecture aimed to enhance the perception of the students for the ethical principles that should be possessed by both medical students and doctors. Dr. Hudhaifa explained that medical ethics are not just theoretical principles, but rather the foundation upon which medicine and dealing with patients are based.
The lecture focused on the basic values that form the ethical framework for practicing medicine :
Benefit: Working to achieve the interest of the patient first and foremost.
Do no harm: Avoid any action that may lead to harm to the patient.
Independence: Respecting the rights of the patients to make their own decisions regarding their treatment.
Justice: Ensuring that all patients are treated fairly and equally.
The lecture witnessed positive interaction from students who expressed their appreciation for the valuable information that contributes to building a strong foundation for professional ethics. This lecture is part of a series of scientific and cultural activities organized by the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , which aims to prepare highly qualified doctors with solid ethical awareness.
