The College of Pharmacy at University of Alkafeel held a seminar on CRISPR-Cas9 technology on Monday, 9/12/2024and was presented by Asst .Prof. Muhammad Karim Jabbar.
CRISPR-Cas9 technology is a modern gene-editing tool that enables scientists to modify DNA with high precision. This technology relies on a natural immune mechanism found in bacteria, as the Cas9 enzyme targets and cuts specific regions in the human genome, allowing the introduction or modification of genes. This technology has proven its ability in many fields, such as genetic research, the treatment of incurable diseases and its use in the field of agriculture to improve crops.
In his speech, Asst. Prof. Muhammad Karim Jabbar pointed out the importance of this technology in the development of modern medicine and its great impact on the development of new treatments for genetic diseases. He also touched on the challenges and opportunities it offers in the future.
Here the College of Pharmacy seeks to enhance scientific awareness among students and introduce them to the latest innovations in the field of genetic research.
