Commemoration of  Burial of  Martyrs of Karbala
2024 - 07 - 20

The Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation at the University of Alkafeel organized its annual mourning session to commemorate the burial of the martyr bodies of Karbala (peace be upon them) on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in the events hall of the chancellery . The event was attended by the University rector, Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, deans of the colleges, faculty members, and personnel .

The mourning session commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter. Mohannad Al-Mayali, Director of the Quran Institute affiliated with the Holy Al-Abbas  Shrine, Najaf branch. Then Sheikh.Jaafar Al-Waeli presented a valuable lecture detailing the burial of the pure bodies of the Karbala martyrs and the return of Imam Zain Al-Abidin (peace be upon him) to Karbala to bury his father, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his uncle Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and the rest of the martyrs.

In his lecture he highlighted the historical and religious context of the time span during which the pure bodies remained on the plains of Karbala without burial, enduring three days under the scorching sun after the eternal Battle of Karbala, as the Umayyads prevented their burial. He elaborated on the miraculous return of Imam Zain al-Abidin (peace be upon him) to Karbala and the help he received from tribes around the place of the event to bury the pure bodies.

The main emphasis of such a commemoration was highly tackled by Sheikh. Al-Waeli : the sacrifices of Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them) and their sufferings come for the sake of high human values. He stressed the importance of remembering these values and passing them to future generations.

University of Alkafeel remains committed to commemorating religious occasions and remembering the lives of Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them) for their profound human values and the trials they endured to uphold and immortalize these values.
